ISS Transits August 3-7
The International Space Station will be visible over Silverton several times during the first week of August if the monsoon clouds cooperate and dissipate by dusk.
On the 3rd, the ISS will rise in the NNW at 9:47 PM headed ENE. It will reach maximum apparent altitude at 9:49 PM at 33 degrees above the horizon.
On the 4th the ISS will rise in the NW at 9:12 PM headed W, and will reach maximum altitude at 9:14 PM.
On the 5th the ISS will rise in the NW at 9:03 PM headed E and will reach maximum altitude at 9:05 PM.
ISS Transits July 19-21
Tonight July 19th the Intrnational Space Station will be visible over Silverton. The ISS will rise in West SouthWest at 9:42 PM headed NE. It will reach maximum elevation at 9:45 PM.
Tomorrow July 20 the ISS will rise in the NW at 4:05 AM headed N. It will reach maximum elevation at 4:08 AM.
Monday July 21 the ISS will rise in the NW at 8:54 PM headed N and will reach maximum elevation at 8:56 PM.
4th of July Parade Results
Congrats 2008 Winners!
At least 34 parade entries, some involving several vehicles, stretched out nearly a mile over the entire parade route. Candy and beads flew through the air as a team of anonymous out-of-town judges made the award selections.

Blue Ribbon Run Results
2008's Winner of the Blue Ribbon 10k was Logan Ott, 19 years old, from Mancos, Colorado. Logan's sister, dad and uncle were also top finishers. April Temple of Silverton was the 1st female 10k finisher. Thanks to all 172 participants, generous sponsors and the top notch team of volunteers!

ISS Transits June 6 and 8
A few minutes ago I watched the space shuttle Discovery chase the International Space Station across the sky. Cool. They were both low on the horizon and visible for about a minute. Discovery is scheduled to catch up to the ISS orbit tomorrow afternoon.
On June 6 the ISS will transit over Silverton beginning approximately 9:52 PM rising in the NW and will reach maximum elevation at 9:55 PM.

Consider becoming a DJ at our local radio station, located in the Visitor's Center. The low power FM radio we have here in Silverton is a real treasure. There are endless oportunities to pursue with this format.
