Colorado Ski Mountaineering Cup Series at Molas Lake
The San Juans Rando event is hosted by Pine Needle Mountaineering in Durango and Silverton Powdercats. This event will be the first ski mountaineering event in North America held entirely in the backcountry.
The course starts and finishes on the west side of Molas Pass. Multiple courses have been mapped and skied; in the event of high avalanche danger or poor visibility alternate, the below tree-line course will be used.
Start: 9 am, with a pre-race briefing on the starting line at 8:45 am.
Registration and Info: Friday, April 17th at Pine Needle Mountaineering from 4-7 pm. Morning-of registration from 7:30 - 8:30 am in the Silverton Powdercats parking lot on the East side of the highway.
Mandatory Gear: beacon/shovel/probe/helmet/climbing harness*
*If conditions are favorable, the Race and Heavy Metal course will include a fixed-line protected, non-technical boot pack. If you need a harness please email [email protected] to reserve a CAMP harness for the event.
$40 entry includes post-race bbq and prize raffle.
