Ice Pirates Snowmobiling is Southwestern Colorado's premier snowmobile touring outfitter. We are located in the heart of the San Juan Mountains, high above Durango and Silverton, Colorado. The outpost is situated at the top of Molas Pass, 16 miles north of Durango Mountain Ski Resort.

Molas Pass receives an average of 300 inches of snow a year. This means our trips are available early and we operate as long as the snow holds out--usually mid to late April.

Riding with Ice Pirates is easy! Persons sixteen and over with a valid drivers license can drive a snowmobile on their own; you must be eighteen to be a driver with a passenger.

Safety is our number one concern at Ice Pirates. We employ only veteran guides with backcountry experience. Our qualified guides give hands-on safety and operating orientations after you check in at the outfitters tent. The tours begin on gradual backcountry terrain to ensure all drivers understand how to correctly use their snowmobiles. Learning how to drive a snowmobile is not only simple, but is also lots of fun once you figure it out!

The real fun starts when you head out into the high alpine backcountry! From our location high in the San Juan Mountains we have access to over sixty miles of wooded trails, open meadows, historical sites, panoramic views of two mountain ranges and the largest wilderness area in Colorado, and radical above-tree line snowmobiling satisfying to all powder hounds!

Ice Pirates provides complimentary helmets and goggles. We advise you wear warm ski clothes. If you don't have your own, we have snow suits, jackets, boots and gloves, free upon request.
